A popular meat product sold around the country has been recalled in several states – including in Georgia – due to the possible presence of plastic that could pose a safety risk.

Johnsonville, LLC has recalled more than 22,000 pounds of its cheddar bratwurst products produced February 5, 2025, that could be "contaminated with foreign material, specifically hard plastic," according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety & Inspection Service division. The recall was initiated after two consumer complaints of hard plastic found in the product.

The recall affects the "19-oz. sealed firm tray packages containing five pieces of 'Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst'" with the package code B9FOD and establishment number "Est. 1647," found on the front of the label. The affected products were shipped to retail locations in the following states: Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.

According to the FSIS, no injuries have been reported in connection to consuming the product. Consumers are urged not to consume the recalled products and either throw them out or return them to the place of purchase.

The new recall follows reports last week that another popular product sold in Georgia stores was taken off shelves for a surprising reason.
