Beloved Georgia Spot Named 'Best Hole-In-The-Wall Restaurant' In The State

Have you ever dined at the best hole-in-the-wall eatery in Georgia? While popular restaurants and established food chains promise a memorable dining experience and delicious food, some of the best dishes can be found is lesser known restaurants and hidden gems.

According to a list compiled by LoveFood, the "best hole-in-the-wall restaurant" in all of Georgia is Southern Soul Barbecue. Like the name suggests, this St. Simons Island eatery serves up incredible barbecue favorites, and it's unique location in an hold gas station adds to the eclectic atmosphere.

Southern Soul Barbecue, which has a 4.6 star rating on Google and more than 3,000 reviews, is located at 2020 Demere Road.

"Southern Soul Barbecue on St. Simons, one of Georgia's Golden Isles, is housed in a 1950s-built gas station, but this charmingly ramshackle restaurant is famous for its delicious slow-smoked barbecue. Instead of gas, serves dispense tender beef, pork, turkey, and wild game to devoted customers and lucky passersby every day. The Cuban-style La Frita Burger — a spiced beef and chorizo patty topped with crispy fried potato sticks and lime mayo — is a must-order on Wednesdays."
