Megadeth, Lamb Of God Are Rumored Headliners For Returning Mayhem Festival

Megadeth "Gigantour" In Concert

The Mayhem festival is returning this summer and the top of the bill is rumored to include two heavy-hitting metal acts: Megadeth and Lamb of God.

Mayhem has been on hiatus since 2015, as founders cited declining attendance and a dearth of available "headline-worthy" artists.

But there's more optimism in metal these days. The festival's return this year comes as both Lamb of God and Megadeth have each announced new music on the horizon.

Mayhem has yet to announce any of the acts on this year's bill.

Megadeth is back on the road after abruptly canceling tour dates last summer when front man Dave Mustaine was diagnosed with cancer. Mustaine and the band continued working on their new album during his cancer treatment. In the fall, Mustaine announced that he had beat the disease and would be ready to get back on tour in January.

In addition to being two of modern metal's leading acts, Megadeth and LoG are linked through recently-departed Lamb drummer Chris Adler, who played drums on Megadeth's Grammy award-winning Dystopia album in 2017.

Since announcing the mutual split with Adler last summer, Lamb of God revealed that it was moving forward on a new album with drummer Art Cruz as a full member.
