Half-Naked Sex Offender Tries To Break Into Home Through Doggy Door

A convicted sex offender is back behind bars after he tried to break into a California woman's home by crawling through the doggy door. The woman called the police after noticing a man wandering through her yard.

While she was on the phone with dispatchers, the suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Leroy Vance, started to take off his pants.

"He dropped his drawers and mooned her and was trying to get her outside," the woman's husband, 83-year-old Fred Farrell, told KTXL.

Vance tried to enter the home through a sliding door, but it was locked. He wasn't ready to give up and got down on the ground and tried to crawl through the doggy door. Officers arrived before he managed to enter the home, and he fled on foot.

After a brief chase, Vance was apprehended and taken into custody. Authorities said that Vance was required to wear an ankle monitor stemming from a previous conviction, but managed to cut it off. He was taken to Solano County Jail and is facing charges for violating parole, possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.

Farrell said he was glad that officers arrived quickly and hopes that Vance will remain locked up.

“I want him off the streets,” Farrell said. “He ought to be put in prison. I just wonder why he was let out of jail.”
