Nikki Sixx Didn't Have To Reverse His Vasectomy To Become A Father Again

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx is going to be a father again in a few months, some 10 years after he thought he'd closed up shop for good in that department.

The rockstar-turned-radio host and recovery advocate says he got a vasectomy after splitting up with his second wife, Donna D'Errico. He explained to USA Today that he never wanted to go through such a bitter custody battle again.

While his wife of five years, How2Girl host Courtney Sixx, helped him change his mind about being a dad again, Nikki still didn't have his vasectomy reversed to have another baby — he has four adult children from previous marriages.

"They just had to take it out of me — that's no party getting your [testicles] cut open," he said. "Getting you [testicles] cut open is like being in Mötley Crüe in 1987. It's the same feeling. But now she's pregnant, and we're super excited."

When Courtney and he decided to have a child of their own, Nikki said he was still touring and busy with many projects. He says opting for a sperm-retrieval made the couple feel more prepared.

"I was like, 'It really needs to be more planned out because I want to be here for my wife, and I want to be here for everything."

Nikki explained that he's always enjoyed his children.

"I remember thinking, 'I miss those days, I miss being a dad,'" he said. "I didn't have a father, and I always loved being a father. It's an itch I can't scratch. My kids are older, and I have a great relationship with them."

The new baby girl should arrive in June.

If you're interested in why Nikki compared sperm-retrieval to "being in Mötley Crüe in 1987," you should probably check out the band biopic, The Dirt, due to Netflix in March.
