Aerosmith Has Recorded New Material

Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford says that during a recent trip to London, the band began recording a new song.

"This song is a musical idea of Joe Perry's," Whitford told Billboard. "We're doing it very much like we did songs back when we started out. It's very rock 'n roll."

While Whitford's counterpart, Perry, said earlier this year that the band probably has another full-length album to make, Whitford says the band might release its new music in smaller doses.

"Yeah, you know, you don't have to record a whole CD anymore," he said. "So, hopefully, we can put out this one song or two or three."

Contrary to statements by Perry and frontman Steven Tyler, Whitford doesn't think retirement is imminent.

"Hopefully, there's five more years," he said. "If not longer. We're going to keep playing until we can't play anymore."

Aerosmith is set to play eight shows in South America this fall. Get the dates here.
